A few words by Jane Bailey who ran some wonderful workshops for the project...
Over the last year innovative, creative, multi-sensory approaches to engaging with Trengwainton Garden's heritage was used to deliver a number of workshops. Participants ranged from school age children to elderly people, and the workshop structure included both individual and group work.
A focus on the mid-1800’s was approached through activities informed by practices from that time. A number of processes were introduced to participants including: using spinach and beetroot from the Trengwainton community garden to create light-sensitive coloured liquids for painting washes, and for creating anthotypes; collecting plant specimens for texture palettes, a process inspired by the early plant collectors; making soundscapes; and mapping.
