Shallal Workshop at Trengwainton

I liked it so much...I could live here!

The inspirational Newlyn based Shallal Dance Theatre came to take part in a workshop, run by Jane Bailey on 23 September. A very productive day was had by all.  It was like a big mediterranean family get together working outside the polytunnel in the sun!

Really enjoyed being outdoors and a chance to experiment. Absolutely thrilled with the photographic artwork!

Acetate photo of Mr and Mrs T.R. Bolitho in a donkey carriage by the summerhouse circa 1890 with hedge behind. Photo by Elaine and Jo.

A poem by Elaine Stammers, inspired by the workshop day at Trengwainton.

You both sat there stiffly
in that donkey carriage,
symbols of a lost, forgotten age,
going nowhere.

We carried you away that day
to explore,
let you off the page,
to travel a little, out of left field.

We let the spirit of the place,
the garden,
speak its own story,
and set you free.

Seeing the old pictures really gave some perspective and then using them to be creative with helped bring them to life.
